The Psychotherapeutic Institute for the Social Ecology of the Personality (PISEP) is offering training in art and family therapy — basic level (160 hours).

It is suitable for specialists and students from the helping professions:

psychologists, social workers, doctors, special-needs educators.

In-person sessions are planned in several cities — Sofia, Plovdiv, Stara Zagora, Burgas, and Haskovo.

Those who complete the basic level can continue at higher levels to earn certification as a counselor and therapist.

The 160-hour modules cover:


Module one: Core principles and basic concepts.


Diagnosing family relationships between children and parents through drawing. Problems in childhood and adolescent development. Hazards, mistakes, and myths from "pop" psychology.


Module two: Indicators of child and family health.

Life cycles, crises, personal growth. Emotional competence and fostering
confidence and optimism in children. Working with "problem" adolescents and with children who have special educational needs.


Module three: Techniques for individual and group work with children and families across professional contexts — schools, social services, child centers.

Universal prevention programs for issues of violence, aggression, anxiety, and substance abuse.


Length: 10 months.

Monthly trainings, one weekend a month — 16 academic hours.

Time between trainings is filled with independent work, exercises, and assigned reading.


Participation fee:

110 BGN (130 BGN if paid by an institution).


In Stara Zagora, Plovdiv, Burgas, and Haskovo, the training will start in January 2022.

In Sofia it begins on November 27–28, 2021.
